Does the fashion affect women’s self-expression?

Which T-shirt do you want to choose? Short or long?

Maybe you want to wear some dresses? Heels or sneakers?

Nowadays, we have so many options to choose from when it comes to what we want to wear. Depending on different moods, weather, and seasons, we choose different clothes.

But which clothes do you truly like?

Have you found your own style?

We are all different, and it is normal that we want to wear different clothes.

In contrast, centuries have chosen something new for us. So I can say that the fashion affects our self-expression.

1. Personal style.
It is something that helps you decide what impression you want to make. To be more classy, suits and closed clothes will help you. To be more elegant, skirts, tops, heels, etc., will help you. Different styles of clothes exist for different impressions. Or if you don't like any of them, you can create your own style, which will help you express yourself.

2. Creativity and Artistic Expression. Fashion is also influenced by creativity because we can mix different colors, textures of clothes, prints, and even sizes. The same garment may look different on different women. In fashion, we don't have any rules (there are only some tips, but you don't have to listen to them), so it gives us the freedom to wear clothes as we want.

3. Cultural and Social Identity. There are over a thousand of traditional clothes which we can demonstrate our culture, traditions, and special prints with. Centuries ago, long dresses and skirts were more common. Now, shorter skirts are more popular. Based on traditional clothes, we can also create our own style and express ourselves. If you are a tourist in a new country for yourself, you want to know more about that country. So, people on the streets who wear just their cultural jewellery are really helpful for you.

4. Empowerment and Confidence. The right clothes based on your body type can make you more beautiful. But you need to pay attention not only to your body type but also to your face type.

Do you have soft or sharp facial features? What color are your eyes and hair?

It also affects the clothes that you choose because for a greater impression, you need to present yourself correctly.

5. Breaking Stereotypes. Earlier, women could only wear shirts and dresses because it was considered feminine clothing. Pants, shirts, and T-shirts were for men. Now our world has changed, and stereotypes about femininity and masculinity have almost disappeared. It allows us and gives us a wide selection of clothes.

6. Subcultures and Movements: Different subcultures are more inherent for teenagers. They are searching for themselves, trying something new, and building their understanding of this world. The diversity of subcultures allows them to see where they fit in more. They have friends with similar interests, which helps them find themselves faster. Also, women who join subcultures advocate for social causes, conveying their values and beliefs through their clothes and style.

7. Adaptation to Contexts. All modern clothes allow women to manifest, express themselves, and feel comfortable in different styles for different conditions. Whether it's professional attire, casual wear, or formal dress, women can adjust their fashion choices to suit different environments and express their role or purpose within those settings.

Tips, which will help you find your own style:

1. Create a “Pinterest” board, where you will save clothes, which you like.
2. Answer: What do you want to express with the help of your clothes and style? Elegance, severity, restraint?
3. Find the connection between the first and second exercises.
4. Save the type of clothes, which fit the third.
5. Look at your wardrobe. Maybe you have something from your board? Make a list of clothes, that you don’t have and purchase for them.
