The way Chanel changed the world

Before we will get into the whole way of how this brand has changed the world we all live in, let me introduce you to the amazing creator.

Coco (Gabriel) Chanel, the woman that did not personally define herself as a feminist, but her life moves and acts did. She is a talented French designer and businesswoman. This person sabotaged an unspoken revolution in the way women wore clothes. Coco changed the unchangeable time she was living in. People saw her wearing pants and riding horses when it was equal to a woman’s crime. In other words, she was a true daredevil of her time!

"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."

Coco Chanel

Our clothes in the closet were not usual for women years ago. As we know, there were beautiful dresses, hats, and shoes, but even looking at these items is uncomfortable for most of us. At least it was uncomfortable to the well-known nowadays Coco Chanel, the seamstress that is singing at the bar in the evenings. She opened our ankles and knees from the fashion and stereotype chains, showed us the door to convenient bottom clothes, such as pants, and freed our chests from killing corsets.

Let’s look at these changes closely!

“I make fashion women can live in, breath in, feel comfortable in, and look younger in.”

The little black dress

Let's look at these changes closely!

Introduced in the late 1920s and first popularized in the 1930s, the little black dress, or LBD as some affectionately call it is classic womenswear. The French designer had a brilliant idea of creating an affordable clothing design that boasted that those who were not wealthy, as Coco put it, "could walk around like a millionaire". The little black dress is iconic. When it first entered fashion consciousness in 1926, it democratized fashion. Its short length and simplicity mean every woman can afford fashion. Our society even came up with the event “The Little Black Dress” which is an annual charity event created to serve women as we provide a program filled with food, entertainment, an inspiring message, and tons of amazing door prizes.

The Chanel suit

The Chanel suit is an integral symbol of the Chanel fashion brand. It had different looks throughout the years, but it never changed its “iconic” part. The sought that Gabrielle Chanel is to dress women “in suits that make them feel at ease, but that still emphasize femininity.” This item is mostly made from light, loosely woven tweed; demonstrating her impulse toward ease and comfort. It also had the purpose to free women from the constraint of the wasp-waisted silhouette of the fifties. First Lady Jackie Kennedy, wore a pink Chanel suit on the day her husband United States President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Texas in 1963.

"The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you."

Pants for women

After the First World War, Coco Chanel started involving in fashion in women's pants. She created trousers for herself to climb into the rocking gondolas in Venice. In addition, because of her desire to ride a horse more comfortably, she was bringing up this item in fashion. She used the straight, wide cuts of sailor’s trousers for her yachting pants.

Jersey

Our French daredevil was the first one who bring up jerseys as well. The war created a shortage of supplies so it was cheap and easy to buy jerseys in bulk. The jersey fabric was not following the fashion that was common for the time in every way; it was not flashy, or excessive, and more importantly, it did not have a corset. Once again, she freed us from a straitjacket called “the corset”.

"A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life."

So where did we get so far?

Coco Chanel made it so menswear could also be worn as womenswear, this was a huge step because it helped show how women and men were equal. She freed the ankles, loosened the waistline, allowed women to be able to cut their hair, and she just gave them so much freedom to do so much more. Fashion designer Coco Chanel is famous for her timeless designs, trademark suits, and little black dresses. In the 1920s, she launched her first perfume and eventually introduced the Chanel suit and the little black dress, with an emphasis on making clothes that were more comfortable for women.
